There’s a good exhibition in Vila do Conde (a nearby town) about one of the few giants of stop motion studios: Aardman. It was my opportunity to see ‘alive’ 6 real sets used in Wallace & Gromit, Shawn the Sheep, Creature Comforts and even Morph. Also, there are some characters and props, storyboards and original drafts from Nick Park.In the end there’s even a small set with clay figures and a computer where kids may improvise their own stop motion movie. My daughter would stay there all weekend if I let her, I think the virus is starting to spread to my family …
In the courtyard there were a group of students from José Régio School, preparing themselves a stop motion short with lots of electronic waist. A nice talk with their teacher revealed that the movie shall be ready by the end of the month and it will be presented in that same space. A great reason to come back!
The exhibition ends on the 5th June so hurry, it can’t be missed by any fan of Aardman productions…. Aren’t we all?

Está uma exposição em Vila do Conde sobre um dos poucos gigantes dos estúdios de animação de volumes: Aardman. Foi a minha oportunidade de ver ao vido 6 cenários reais usados em Wallace & Gromit, Ovelha Choné, Creature Comforts e até o Morph. Também lá estão alguns personagens e adereços, storyboards e rascunhos originais de Nick Park.No fim tem até um pequeno cenário com bonecos de plasticina onde as crianças podem improvisar o seu próprio filme stop motion. A minha filha ficaria lá o fim-de-semana todo se a deixasse, acho que o vírus está a alastrar-se à família.
No pátio estava um grupo de estudantes da escola José Régio, a preparar eles próprios uma curta-metragem em animação de volumes, com uma pilha de velhas placas electrónicas. Uma conversa agradável com o seu professor revelou que o filme estará pronto no final do mês e será apresentado naquele mesmo espaço. Uma boa razão para voltar!
A exposição termina a 5 de Junho por isso despachem-se, é imperdível para qualquer fã das produções da Aardman… não somos todos?
